Stone Chip & Key Scratch Repair

Stone chips are the most common kind of damage, especially for cars that do lots of motorway miles. Each chip in it's self is usually so small that people tend to overlook this kind of damage and just accept it as inevitable. But having stone chips repaired with the correctly matched paint can make a dramatic difference to the appearance of your car, especially on dark colored paintwork.

Stone chips can be a major cause of rust, especially along the bottom of the doors and around the grill and lights as lower areas are more exposed to road salts. Once rust starts, it's almost impossible to stop, so it's worth having your paint chips attended to on a regular basis.

Using color matched paint and an artists brush, our professional staff can fill chips and scratches which are little wider than a hair.

Executive Details offers a stone chip touch-in service in conjunction with any of our detailing services, pricing is based on severity of damage.  If you already have touch-up paint, bring it with you when you have your car detailed. If not, we can mix up or order one for you.

Important: Executive Details can only provide this service when purchased with a detailing service as the car needs to be cleaned to a very high standard to be sure the car is clear of surface impurities and road tar.

Cosmetic Repair

As an alternative to our Scuff Repair Service, some scrapes and scuffs can often be rectified without the need for filling, priming and spraying. Most commonly this is used for people who have hit curb stones while parking, or run over bricks and other road debris, damaging the seals and underside sections of the car. Because these areas are not as noticeable as the main body panels, often it is good enough to color the effected area, protecting it from corrosion and making it far less noticeable.

Many people who lease or contract hire a vehicle, tend to forget that the car isn't theirs, and that one day the leasing company will want it back. This is when many people wish they had paid more attention when reading the small print on their contracts!

Although the lease or hire company do not expect to get the car back in perfect condition (they do allow you some "Wear & Tear"), they will charge you for excessive damage. The problem is that your idea of 'excessive' may differ wildly to that of the lease company!

Don't forget that the lease company needs to sell your car before they get their profit and so need it back in a salable condition. Most lease companies adhere to the industry guidelines on 'Fair Wear & Tear Standard' and what is chargeable. You can still expect them to be very strict, noting every area of damage and charging you at the full cost of repair, or for the cost of devaluation that the damage has on the car. And here lies the problem and the solution!

So what kind of things can you be charged for?

The answer is just about any kind of damage, from excessive or rusty stone chips, small dents, scuffs, scratches in the paintwork, chips or cracks in the windscreen or lights, holes in the dash left by car phones or GPS systems, tears in upholstery, cigarette burns... even stained seats, excessive soiling and odors. They will also charge you for missing spare keys and tools. Just about anything they feel devalues the car.

So you can see why it is often the case that penalty charges can amount to a bill which exceeds $1000.

Your car needs to be clean before you return it to the lease company - you may be charged for excessively dirty cars. You car also needs to be clean before it can be inspected, after all, you can't see the damage if it is covered by dirt and this is the reason that lease return inspectors pay
special attention to cars returned dirty.
